What we collect
- Your email — to sign you in (passwordless link) and to contact you about your reports and offers.
- What you add to your garage — vehicles, VINs, photos, listing URLs, asking prices, and notes you enter.
- Documents you upload — history reports, inspections, service records, window stickers.
- Basic analytics — privacy-light page views using a daily-rotating hash; we do not store your raw IP address.
- Payment — handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.
How we use it
To generate your reports, run your garage, deliver offers on cars you share, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not train models on your content without your permission.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run PreBuyIQ: Stripe (payments), Amazon Web Services (hosting, email delivery), the AI provider that generates reports from the specific vehicle you asked about, and the U.S. government's NHTSA vPIC VIN database, which receives only a VIN so we can confirm what vehicle it actually identifies. For a car you choose to make public, only the privacy-safe fields (name, photo, category, trend, ownership) appear — never your email, VIN, prices, notes, or our valuations.
Your choices
From Settings you can export everything we hold for your account as JSON, change your email, or permanently delete your account and its data. You can also request these by emailing us.
Data retention & security
We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting your account removes your garage, photos, share page, offers, report submissions with their uploaded documents, and any reports you purchased (report links stop working) — export anything you want to keep first. Records of payments themselves are retained where required for legal or accounting reasons. Deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before those backups age out. Customer data is stored outside the public web root and secrets are held in a managed secret store.
